IP addresses (Personal Identifier) is assigned the servers connection (ADSL, or another depending on the server that you connected), but has nothing to do with email addresses, eg if the person visited your site at a friend or in a public place, the IP is the place where it was connected that appears on your terminal, if you really want to have your mail client, or you'll take on your administration when a visitor leaves you, or you instaler a newsletter on your site.
